TOWN OF MURPHY FIRE DEPARTMENT

Murphy Fire Department provides fire and rescue services to 3 primary fire districts: Town of Murphy, Murphy Rural, and Murphy Rural Tribal totaling 25.49 square miles. These districts are served by two fire stations; main station is located at #1 Firehouse Ln. and a satellite station is located at 125 Natural Springs Drive. In addition to our primary districts, we provide automatic aid to an additional 8 fire districts. Our department strives to protect the lives and property of citizens and visitors of our fire districts through fire prevention, education, and suppression in addition to rescue services. Through strong teamwork, it is our desire to excel in customer service by being a progressive and proactive department.

Murphy Fire Department is a combination department with a full time fire chief and a part time staff of 21 personnel. Personnel dedicate many hours annually to training and incident mitigation. In addition to fire protection, our department is credentialed by the NC Association of Rescue and EMS as a heavy rescue provider with specialties in Agriculture, High Angle and Confined Space.

Our ISO insurance rating is a Class 4 inside the city limits and a Class 5 in Murphy Rural. This rating reduction was achieved back in 2012 after several years of strategic planning and dedicated personnel who continuously demonstrate a desire to serve their community.
