Barry McClure

Barry McClure was first elected to the Town Council in 2013. Mr. McClure graduated from Hayesville High School. He attended Young Harris College before attending Western Carolina University. He received a B.S.Ed., M.A. Ed., and an Educational Specialist Degree all from WCU. McClure taught Special Education and Middle Grades Reading at Murphy High and Middle Schools for 20 years. He was an administrator at Murphy Elementary, Murphy High, and Murphy Middle Schools. He retired from Cherokee County Schools in 2016 as the Principal of Murphy Middle School. During the 2018-2019 school year, McClure served as the Interim Principal of the Oaks Academy for Cherokee County Schools.
