Charlene Smith

Charlene Smith was elected to Murphy Town Council in 2021.  She graduated from Hayesville High School and received her Associate of Applied Science degree from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College in 1982.  Local dental hygienist, she is married to attorney Noland Smith and they raised three daughters in downtown Murphy. Charlene serves on the advisory board for Murphy DAC (Downtown Associate Community program) of the NC Main Street program.  She feels a responsibility to promote economic engines that boost growth while preserving and promoting Murphy’s natural and historic charms for future generations.
